Kuwait
University School of Law IT Unit (KUSL IT Unit) was incepted in 16
November 2004.
The Unit's team comprises the following
people:

Eng. Ahmad Hamed, Team Member
Mrs. Manal Jafar, Administrative
Staff Member
The Unit`s main task was to change
KUSL's technologically-challenged reality. Its functions were broadly
defined as:
o
To spread IT awareness amongst KUSL
faculty and students
o
To spearhead the process of IT
development in KUSL
Despite budgetary constraints, it is now
estimated that about 70-80% of this new Unit`s goals were achieved
within less than a year and a half's time. Some of the highlights of
this team's achievements thus far are:

Equipping and managing IT Labs for
students use
o
Designing and administering KUSL and
faculty websites
o
Putting together a lecture-theatre
automation plan for KUSL teaching halls (ie converting these
halls into 'smart-classes')
o
Providing technical support for KUSL
faculty and students
o
Administering the procurement of
computers and IT equipment for KUSL needs
o
Organising IT Courses for Students and
Faculty
o
Participating in teaching Research
Methods Courses and develop their Curricula
o
Providing and managing staff and faculty
e-mail
o
Preparing KUSL statistics
o
Overseeing KUSL's participation in
E-Learning programs
o
Co-operating with sister it units and
centres
o
subscribing at various law databases,
some of which are:

The IT Unit's achievements were in line
with KUSL plan to acquire academic accreditation by the Association of
American Law Schools (AALS). The accreditation was acquired in 2005, and
the IT Unit received the Accreditation Team's felicitations for its
efforts. |
